Genesis, of course, was one of the all-time great progressive rock bands of the 1970's, but after departures of vocalist Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett and facing changes in the commercial music landscape in the 1980's, the band morphed into a very successful pop/rock band through the 1990's.
And what a sad and bittersweet end that it is. Whether or not this truly is the final concert of some form of Genesis remains to be seen, but considering the declining health of lead singer Phil Collins (who already can no longer play the drums), it may very well be the end. Last week, legendary Prog/pop/rock band Genesis (or at least what remains of Genesis) wrapped up their Last Domino? Tour at the O2 Arena in London on March 26, 2022, with what has been called the last ever concert performance by Genesis.
